Kayla Muirhead hails from Atlanta, GA. In the Fall of 2020, she obtained her Bachelors of Arts in Dance from Brenau University. Kayla began her training at Buford School of Ballet and continued her studies at Metropolitan Ballet Theatre’s pre-professional Conservatory program under the tutelage and directorship of ballet Mistress Maniya Barredo. Her training at Brenau involved Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Ballroom, West African, Modern, and Contemporary. Her academic studies include Dance Production, Dance Appreciation, World Dance Perspectives, Composition, Choreography and Production, and Dance History. Kayla has been given the opportunity to engage in classes and perform works choreographed by Robert Barnett, Maniya Barredo, Anthony Burrell, Tiffany Carson, Allyne Gartrell, John Magnus, Nicholas Pacana, and Nick Palmquist. Kayla has received scholarships from and taken part in summer intensives at the American Academy of Ballet, Tulsa Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, Orlando Ballet, Nashville Ballet, and the National Choreography Intensive as a student choreographer. Her love and appreciation for dance fuels her desire to attain and share the knowledge that has been given to her.
